Introducing Your Child to the Dentist: The “Chair Ride” Appointment
Is it time for your child’s first visit? We make it easy and fun with our “Chair Ride” appointment, designed for children who are new to the dental experience. Here’s how it works:
- A fun introduction: We show your child the dental tools in a playful way, giving them fun, silly names to keep things light.
- A calm, friendly atmosphere: We’ll walk your child through the office and help them become familiar with the environment.
- No pressure: There’s no rush! We take things at your child’s pace, allowing them to explore the space and ask questions.
- Parental support: You’re welcome to stay by their side and hold them, making them feel safe and comfortable.
This appointment is all about familiarizing your child with the dentist’s office in a fun and relaxed manner so that they have a positive first impression.
Knee-to-Knee Exam: A Comforting, Hands-On Approach
As your child becomes more accustomed to visits, we offer a knee-to-knee exam for children who are ready for a more comprehensive check-up. Here’s what to expect:
- You stay close: Your child sits on your lap, and you hold their hands for comfort.
- Lean back for a thorough exam: Your child leans back into the dentist’s chair, allowing us to carefully examine their teeth, gums, and overall oral health.
- Take it step-by-step: We’ll only proceed with polishing or further procedures when your child feels ready. It’s all about making them feel comfortable.
- A little gift: After the appointment, your child receives a fun, educational book about the dentist, helping them feel more familiar with the experience.
Other Services We Provide for Kids
In addition to regular checkups, we offer a range of pediatric dental services, including:
- Frenum check: We assess your child’s frenum (lip and tongue ties) and provide treatment recommendations if needed.
- Sleep apnea: We monitor for signs of sleep apnea and teeth grinding and check for proper jaw and dental development at every visit.
- Fluoride treatments: Help protect your child’s teeth from cavities and decay.
- Cavity prevention: We work with you to create a plan for preventing cavities through brushing, flossing, and diet advice.
We are committed to providing your child with comprehensive care in a setting they’ll feel comfortable.
